It’s that time of year, the time to check out free dystopian fiction! Book Funnel allows authors to provide free stories, and I’ve included Working Loose, the prequel novelette to Martha’s Sons in the offerings. Working Loose tells part of Edward’s origins story, and if you haven’t read it yet, you might want to check it out.
I’ve looked over the other stories, and I must say, some of them look quite intriguing. Despite the complete improbability of the fall of space debris, I’m going to pick up a copy of When Tomorrow Comes since I have a soft spot for ordinary people dealing with the end of the world as we know it. I loved Stirling’s Dies the Fire, and that was likely caused by alien space bats, so I won’t quibble over the rain of space debris. (I mean, I will; but I won’t do it a lot.)
The other one that calls to me is Battle at Chaser’s Rock, with Chinese space pirates, the first solar war, and all sorts of adventure.
