Simple Service is set in the early days of Nwwwlf, a couple centuries before Sleeping Duty.\u00a0 Peter Dawe is born on the planet to parents who expected something a little more Earth-like when they emigrated from Earth’s WesHem.\u00a0 It’s all Peter knows: the terraformed valley of First Landing, the seemingly lovely but inhospitable planet outside the isolated valley, and his large family of pan.<\/p>\n

Peter is the youngest of ten, what his brother calls the expendable child.\u00a0 With the burdens his father places on Peter, his brother might be right.<\/p>\n
